Agility Classes
Agility is a great form of exercise for both you and your dog. Dogs love agility, and so do their handlers. It’s an excellent way to begin off-leash training (in a fenced yard). Agility is now being used in behavior modification for shy, reactive, and overly energetic dogs.
Classes are held indoors at The Perfect Pooch. Class size is limited and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to reserve your spot now!

AGILITY 1
INTRO TO OBSTACLES
4 Week Class $150
Requirement: Puppy Manners – all ages 3 months to seniors welcome. Some basic obedience (not perfect, just general knowledge). The class will teach your dog two new obstacles each week, focusing on how to enter and exit each obstacle correctly and how to hit the contact zones properly. Dogs will become familiar and comfortable with each obstacle one at a time and will have fun learning something new. This class will be on-leash until your dog is reliable off-leash.
AGILITY 2
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
6 Week Class $180
Requirement: Completion of Agility 1. This class focuses on applying what you learned in Agility 1 by putting it all together to run small courses. You will start sending your dog ahead and fine-tuning any problem obstacles. The emphasis is on both of you having fun, truly understanding the obstacles, and executing them correctly!
AGILITY 3
HANDLING SKILLS
6 Week Class $180
Requirement: Completion of Agility 2. This class focuses on improving handling skills, as well as enhancing the dog’s speed and accuracy. We will concentrate on the more challenging obstacles, such as weaves and the teeter. You will begin to learn front and rear crosses to increase speed and shorten your runs. This class is all about teamwork between the handler and the dog. It will also prepare you for competitions, if you choose to participate, or simply for full course fun runs.
AGILITY GAMES & COMPETITION
6 Week Class $180
Requirements: Completion of Agility 3. This class will teach you all the games involved in an agility trial. You will learn all the rules and how to perform in agility games such as Jumpers, Wildcard, Colors, Jackpot, and more. We will do mock runs so you can practice and perfect your timing, handling, and accuracy. This class will be tons of fun for both you and your dog. We will also go over how to sign up for trials and how they work.
FUN DAYS & POP-UP WORKSHOPS
All Pop-ups will be scheduled on our Facebook page. These are last minute fun classes, playtimes, and workshops. Different fun things to do with your pooch when you are bored and don’t want to commit to 6 week courses or want more to do. Gives you a chance to try different things out to see if you would like to further your education in different classes. Or if you just want to have some fun.
MOVING PUZZLES
This is a workshop that will teach you how to have fun with teaching your dogs to navigate obstacles in a puzzle. This is a fun form of fitness, will help keep them exercised mentally and physically. Also teaching them confidence to navigate different surfaces. They will learn proper form to perform tasks safely and properly teaching body awareness and also helping dogs with injuries, body awareness or arthritis.
SPEEDWAY
Is a new sport designed for new agility students, older dogs with limitations, handicap dogs, or any dog wanting to have fun. Puppies to seniors can do this with ease. These are courses with tunnels, hoops, and barrels. They will have small courses set up to navigate through can be done for fun or even get your dog to compete in this new sport. There are 5 different courses available to learn and play.
Group Classes
PUPPY MANNERS
6 Week Class $200
Ages 9 weeks to 9 months
This class will cover everyday household manner, which includes: “sit”, “stay”, “down”, first-time name response, eye contact, “come”, “drop it”, “leave it”, loose leash walking, and other foundation cues. Same criteria as Basic class, this is designed for the students who get their puppies at a younger age and want to start out right, they will proceed to intermediate from here.
BASIC MANNERS
6 Week Class $200
Ages 9 months and up
This class is designed for older puppies and dogs who are just beginning their training (they are never too old to start). Dogs will learn basic household manners such as: “sit,” “stay,” “down,” “come,” greeting people and other dogs properly, loose leash walking, “leave it,” eye contact, and many more.
INTERMEDIATE MANNERS
6 Week Class $185
Requirements: Completion of Basic Manners. This class will take your training to the next level by focusing on the 3D’s: Distance, Duration, and Distractions. The class will cover many new skills such as heeling, “go to your bed,” “touch,” target and touch, advanced stays, shaping and proofing behaviors, and more. You will also be introduced to the clicker in this class.
ADVANCED SKILLS & RALLY SIGNS
6 Week Class $160
Requirements: Completion of Intermediate skills. This class will elevate your training to a more advanced level. We will begin off-leash work and truly test what your dog knows. The class will include working at distances and covering new skills such as fronts, finishes, go-outs, and more advanced cues. We will also learn Rally Obedience signs – new ones each week. This will help you practice the skills learned in Intermediate Manners. A very fun way to practice advanced skills and perfect what you have trained.
Specialty Classes
CGC PREPARATION CLASS and THERAPY DOG PREPARATION CLASS
3-week course $100 (includes CGC TEST)
This class will cover all ten test items in detail to prepare your dog to pass the AKC test for their certification. The test will be administered in the retail store during the last week of the class. The Therapy Dog class will also include the additional four items, which can be tested at a later date.
PRIVATE TRAINING
For the dogs who just need that extra attention or the student who needs different times. This is great one on one time to work out problem areas.
- 1 hour private in-store or Fenton $130
- 4 session package (1 hour per session). Prices vary; call for pricing.
- 1 hour in-home $200 (these visits usually go over an hour; there is no additional charge for extra time) (training packages for in home also available)
- Private training for Agility is available $60 per hour
DIFFICULT DOG
This class is designed for dogs that have difficulty interacting with other dogs and people. The class size will be limited to four dogs or less and will focus extensively on resocialization and control. The classes will be very structured to address specific issues and help dogs correct their behavior at their own pace. A consultation is required for this course. Call or email for further details.
NOSEWORK
6 Week Course $200
Nose work is a class that is GREAT for EVERY dog at ANY age. This will take their natural instinct to sniff and give it a purpose. They are taught to seek out specific oils. Class can be done by young and old dogs and handlers. Is a great sport that can be done for fun or competition. Our partnering company Positive Pawz is teaching this these classes. DINING WITH DOGS PREP CLASS
3 Week Course $125
Requirements: at least one 6 week training course. This class includes 2 weeks of restaurant prep. We will meet at Bush Park in Fenton and work on skills such as settling on a mat, walking past people and dogs, how to interact while dining, a to do list of supplies and good etiquette. Week 2 focuses on carrying food and drinks how to prep for environment. Getting under the table skills trained. Week 3 will be a low key restaurant visit to put all your skills in place. Once you have completed the Prep class you will be invited to our private Facebook group that will list all summer dinning experiences that you can participate in. Each additional experience is $20 and you will be asked to purchase drinks and food in establishments. We will add some park and beach adventures to the mix. This class is a MUST if you like to take your pooch everywhere.
BEHAVIOR CONSULTING

RALLY OBEDIENCE
6-week course
$180 or $30 drop-in
Requirements: Completion of Basic Manners. This class will teach you all the rally signs and how to perform them, with new ones introduced each week. It is great fun for both you and your dog. Dogs will be able to use all the cues they have learned in previous classes. AKC signs will be taught in the introductory class, and APDT signs will be introduced in Level 2. CWAGS will also be offered (email for details).
RECALL CLASS
4 Week Class $150
This class is a 4-week course focused solely on the “COME” command. Each week, we will do exercises to strengthen this command. You will learn the ins and outs and all the secrets to getting your dog to come reliably. Your dog or puppy will learn that coming to you is a FUN GAME and will look forward to each recall. All dogs and owners are set up to succeed in this class. This is a summer-only class held outdoors in a fenced area in Fenton.
OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
4 Week Course $240
This class is for dogs that have had at least one training class. In the first week, we will meet at the fenced ball diamond across from PetX to work on long line “come,” proofing basics, loose leash walking, and greeting people. For the last three weeks, we will meet in downtown Howell at City Hall for 45 minutes each week to practice real-life situations. These include leash walking, greeting other dogs, getting attention in distracting situations, and handling encounters with people, dogs, and kids during real-life walks. This is a class you cannot live without and will be enjoyable for both you and your dog.
TRICKS CLASS
3 Weeks Available $30 per class
Each week will have 2 tricks set up to learn. This is a 30-minute class and you will have the option to do all three or just pick the weeks with the tricks you want to learn. Tricks are very valuable in training to help diversify learning and get them out of the normal boring behaviors. It is fun for the dog and handler to learn fun new tricks.
