Professional Dog Training
For over 20 years, I have been professionally training both group and private classes, specializing in working with reactive dogs and addressing separation anxiety. While group classes have been my primary focus for much of my career, I also dedicate significant time to private behavior modification sessions.
I believe every dog is unique, and not every tool or method is suitable for every case. A comprehensive toolbox and the ability to explore different strategies are often essential to resolving behavioral challenges. As a positive reinforcement trainer, I focus on building trust and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Throughout my life, I have shared my home with various breeds. While boxers were my first love, I have also had Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Border Collies, and several mixed breeds. I firmly believe that understanding a dog’s breed and its inherent purpose can play a pivotal role in effective training. There are no one-size-fits-all solutions—each dog is special and deserves an individualized approach.
I am a dedicated volunteer for Great Lakes Boxer Rescue and have had the privilege of fostering many dogs in need of a second chance. Through my training programs, these fosters have gained the skills and confidence to find their forever homes.
Competing in dog sports is a passion of mine, with agility being my first love. I also participate in newer sports like Nosework, Barn Hunt, Rally Obedience, Speedway, Lure Coursing, and Fast CAT. These activities are fantastic tools for building confidence in timid dogs, often with incredible results.
I firmly believe that helping owners understand their dogs and the training process is essential to fostering a strong pet-owner relationship. If the owner doesn’t fully grasp what I’m teaching, the training won’t be effective. My goal is to simplify training methods so that the average pet parent can succeed alongside their dog. Ultimately, training is as much about guiding the owner as it is about teaching the dog.
